Home Game Manager

Competition Season 2023 (April - June) 

Hours: 15 hours per event

Compensation: $300 per event 

New York Gridlock Ultimate (NYGL) is the first professional ultimate frisbee team for women and gender-expansive athletes in New York City. We are a participating team in the Premier Ultimate League. Our mission is to achieve competitive excellence on the field and equity in the sport of ultimate by increasing accessibility to and visibility of women ultimate players. We achieve this by providing high-quality competition, leadership experiences, and community partnerships.   

Position Description

The NYGL Home Game Manager will oversee all aspects of home game event operations for the team. The Manager works directly with and for the owners. The Manager will also collaborate with the media and communications staff to ensure everyone has the information to carry out their NYGL games and events responsibilities successfully.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plans and organizes all NYGL home games (Friday, May 19th + Saturday, June 3rd)

  • Communicates game day planning with the owners and coaching staff

  • Assists owners and coaching staff with tasks as necessary

Home Game Responsibilities

  • Conducts a site visit to each venue and establishes communication with the on-site point person to clarify what they are providing and what NYGL will need to supply (e.g., PA, power, tables, chairs, coolers, water, ice)

  • Merchandise sales and tracking - establish pricing and create a tracking system

  • Field set up of sponsorship obligations for the team and the PUL

  • Arranges and oversee volunteer/staff task assignments (venue set up and break down, ticket sales, merchandise sales, PA Announcer, set ‘port a field, crowd activation, etc.)

  • Arranges and communicate with performers for pregame/half-time

  • Sets up games day financials (pre and post-game)

    • 2 money boxes for each home game with necessary cash for sales (small bills)

    • Create and complete money intake sheets for ticketing and merchandise sales for each home game. Marked with starting cash and ending amounts.

    • Reports game day financials to Owners within 24hrs of a game. 

Requirements 

  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and culturally aligned with the NYGL team mission 

  • Highly organized with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and anticipate needs in a fluid working environment 

  • Exercises good judgment and decision making

  • Internally motivated and trustworthy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish speaking

  • Familiarity with the PUL rules and operations manual
