Coach Bryant’s Reflections - Tryouts Have Ended

While the tryout process was long and challenging, it was successful, and I couldn’t be more excited for the team we are putting together. Over the past three weeks, we had over 135 players tryout for New York Gridlock. The amount of talent that came out was astounding. With so many players willing to travel to be apart of this, it really tells me the league is going to keep growing. Get ready!

A friend introduced me to “Rose, Thorn and Bud” method and it has helped me focus and think about the challenges and successes I encounter in ultimate and life.

Rose

I am blown away by the amount of support we received from members of our community. At each tryout, NYGL had numerous volunteers setting up drills, picking up cones and clearing fields. Several scouts gave up multiple weekends to assist us and provide feedback. There is no way tryouts would have been as successful without their help.

Buds

First Bud – There were so many talented recent and current college players that came out. Shout out to all the college coaches and captains out there. You are doing amazing work!

Second Bud – We’ll announce the roster soon. But get your popcorn ready because this team is going to a lot of fun to coach and exciting to watch.

Thorn

Nothing is going to run perfectly and there were certainly moments I would want to do over. Drills that can be explained better, a moment of confusion, etc… In the end, all I can do is make note of what didn’t work, get feedback and make it better next year.

To give thanks and recognition to all those who volunteered their time. Thank you!
